4 Must-See Acts at LaughFest 2016

4 Must-See Acts at LaughFest 2016

Categories: Social

The month of March means a lot of promising things to the people of Grand Rapids: the (hopeful) coming of spring, St. Paddy’s Day, and most of all—LaughFest! Coming into its sixth year, LaughFest was initiated by Gilda’s Club of Grand Rapids in 2011 “to celebrate laughter for the health of it,” with all proceeds benefitting cancer, grief, and support programs offered by Gilda’s Club. Basically, it’s a side-splitting time tied to a good cause.

First time checking out LaughFest this year, or no idea where to begin? Check out our top picks for LaughFest 2016!

Amateur Stand-Up: 3/11, 3/16 & 3/17 at Long Road Distillers

If you’re into supporting up-and-coming talent, our friends at Long Road Distillers will be hosting three Amateur Stand-Up nights during the festival’s 10-day run. On March 11, 16 and 17 at 7:00 or 7:30 pm, watch stand-up performances from some stars in the making—with a cocktail in hand, of course! Purchase tickets for one (or all three!) of these here.

Best of the Midwest: 3/16 at The BOB

The Best of the Midwest show at The BOB features just that—the best up-and-coming comedians from the Midwest will perform at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm for a chance to win the title of “2016 Gilda’s LaughFest Best of the Midwest Comedian,” and a $2,500 cash prize! Comedians Sydney Adeniyi, Kate Brindle, Chris Knutson, among others, will be performing. Purchase your tickets today!

Sebastian Maniscalco: 3/17 at Fountain Street Church

Los Angeles-based comedian Sebastian Maniscalco will be performing his newest clean stand-up routine, Aren’t You Embarrassed, at Fountain Street Church on March 17 at 8 pm. In this routine, Sebastian makes sarcastic and exasperated commentary on modern-day behavior, etiquette, habits, and quirks. This is a great LaughFest event for the entire family! Purchase your tickets here.

David Cross: 3/18 at Fountain Street Church

Emmy Award winner, Grammy Award nominee, and one of Comedy Central’s Top 100 Stand-Up Comedians of All Time, David Cross, will also be performing at Fountain Street Church during the festival. His newest tour Making America Great Again! just launched in January 2016 and will show in theatres this April—but you can see it live! Click here to purchase your tickets for David’s show.

Don’t let the night end immediately after seeing these amazing shows! Stop on by The Green Well afterwards for Devour Hour. Weekdays 10 pm - close and weekends 11 pm - 1 am, enjoy dranks and snacks for tasty prices—$3 off Michigan drafts, $1 schwag cans, $7 Green Well cocktails, and snacks for just $3 and $5! Now that’s a way to end the night ; ). See you soon!
